Implants in New Orleans and Gretna, LA
If you are receiving crowns or dentures to replace missing teeth, implants may be the first step in your treatment. At Connell Family Dentistry, we offer implants to residents of Gretna, Metairie, New Orleans, and the neighboring areas of Louisiana.
What Are Implants?
Implants are small titanium screws that are designed to replace the root of a tooth. They are inserted into the jawbone, where they will bond with the bone to provide a secure foundation for replacement teeth. Dental implants are the preferred technique for replacing missing teeth because they offer several benefits over other techniques.
How Much Do Implants Cost?
The average cost of dental implants is (COST), but this cost can vary depending on the number of implants required. Most dental insurance providers consider implants a cosmetic service, so you may be responsible for the full cost of treatment. However, Connell Family Dentistry accepts financing through Lending Club and CareCredit® to help make this and other treatments more affordable.
What Are the Benefits of Implants?
For many patients, one of the most significant benefits of dental implants is improved self-esteem, thanks to a restored smile. Implants also offer benefits over other tooth replacement techniques, such as:
- Security: Dental implants fuse with the bone, resulting in replacement teeth that don’t slide around or fit poorly. Implants make it easy to eat, speak, and do everything else you are used to. Since they are not removable, implants also eliminate the discomfort and inconvenience that come with adjusting dentures.
- Durability: Implants are designed to be permanent, so you won’t have to replace them every few years.
- Oral Health: Dental implants don’t require adjusting other teeth. Since they are placed individually, it is also easier to brush and floss between them compared to other replacement teeth.
How Are Implants Inserted?
Implants are inserted during a surgical procedure, for which your mouth will be entirely numb. An incision is made in the gum where a replacement tooth is needed. Through the incision, the jaw bone is drilled to create room for the implant. Next, the small titanium screw is inserted, which extends into the jawbone. Then, the incision will be stitched. After the implant is inserted, you will have a few months to recover and allow the screw to bond with the jawbone. After this time, you will return to the office for crowns to be placed on the implant, resulting in a full, beautiful smile.
